Make sure you have an ice-cold glass of milk ready. You're gonna need it.
My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
Printable Recipe
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon table salt
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 12-oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1. Heat your oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In the bowl of a stand mixer (or in a medium bowl and with a hand mixer), cream together the butter and sugars. Add the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the salt, baking soda, and flour. Mix on low until just combined; scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl. Mix on medium-low until well combined. Add the chocolate chips and mix on low until the chips are incorporated.
3. Using a medium-sized cookie scoop, drop level scoops of dough onto the parchment paper 2 inches apart. Bake 8-10 minutes or until puffed and just barely set in the middle. They are going to look like they aren't done, but you don't want to cook them anymore or they'll be hard when they cool. Let the cookies sit on the hot pan for 1 minute before sliding the parchment paper (with cookies) off. Cool them as long as you can stand to wait.
Makes about 48 cookies (if you don't eat any dough--I never get 48 cookies).
Great cookies! They look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteFortunately, you solve your flat-cookie problem :)
I had the same problem when I moved from CA to UT! Lately I've been using the one in the ward cookbook from Sara Sandburg that has pudding in it and it's great. I'll have to try yours too!
ReplyDeleteThis sound wonderful! I'm with ya- sometimes you just need a chocolate chip cookie!!!
ReplyDeleteDelicious looking cookies! I love the mushy underbaked look and taste - they are the best straight out of the oven!
ReplyDeleteI am like Pavlov's dog...my mouth started watering immediately! :)
ReplyDeleteThese look absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou know, even with all of these fabulous christmas cookies floating about, to me, nothing beats the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Yours look divine.
Hi Tiffiny,
ReplyDeleteI'm posting this photo again at TasteStopping for the weekend "DR" (Declined Rewind), and I had to swing by to drool over your recipe. It is such a mouth-watering photo, I can almost taste the cookies. However, since I really can't taste them, it is making me hanker for my own freshly baked ooey, gooey chocolatey chip cookies. Delicious!
Best,
Casey
Casey, lol! I have a hard time looking at the picture too, because I want to head to the kitchen to make a batch ;) Thanks for your awesome work over at TasteStopping!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine needed a better choco-chip recipe so I forwarded this to her and she LOVED it. She made them with her 2 1/2 year old daughter. I think I may need to head to the kitchen to make some now...
ReplyDelete@TLZ, *jumping up and down* I'm so excited! I love hearing when people try my recipes and they like them--thanks so much for letting me know! *:)*
ReplyDeleteCCC's are my favorite! I'll have to try your high altitude recipe. What part of Utah are you in?
ReplyDelete@Katrina, I'd love to hear how they work for you if you try them. I'm in the Salt Lake valley. :)
ReplyDeleteI am new to baking. In fact I have only been baking for about one month. We had an event at church last night, and I made these cookies and your drop sugar cookie--thank you for not using shortening--and they were a BIG HIT!!!! Everyone member came to me to tell me how great the cookies were. I just had to let you know. Thank you so much for posting the recipes. I cannot wait to try more of your recipes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming back and telling me how it went for you--and welcome to baking! You're going to love creating wonderful things in your kitchen :)
DeleteThank you, thank you for doing all the tinkering first. I almost gave up on making a good chocolate chip cookie. It was so frustrating to bake multiple batches of flat cookies and trying different recipes. Mine turned out great-crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. p.s. I live in New Mexico at 5,300 feet.
ReplyDeletelol...Yay! So glad they worked for you. I *so* know the pain of flat cookies and almost giving up! Enjoy!
DeleteThese cookies were so good! I love how the cookies keep their form and don't get flat in the oven. I live in PA (377 feet) and I baked the cookies for 7 1/2 minutes
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I'm always interested in hearing how the cookies turn out at lower altitudes. Enjoy! :)
DeleteI made these for my husband tonight - except I used a full cup of butter - and he said they were PERFECT. thanks so much. Used a full teaspoon of salt too! yummy! We are Utah Valley.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming back and telling me how they worked out for you! I love to hear from people :) So glad you liked them :)
