My Top 5 Favorites of 2009

I thought I'd start off 2010 by sharing my top 5 favorite posts from 2009. Picking only 5 was harder than expected...enjoy!

1. Homemade Pizza Sauce

This Homemade Pizza Sauce comes from The Cooking Photographer. I love it because it's fast, easy, uses pantry ingredients I already have, and tastes better than anything you can buy in the store. I make it constantly because my kids go through it so fast. It's awesome!
2. Strawberry-Rhubarb Cobbler
This Strawberry-Rhubarb Cobbler is on my list because it was the first time I'd eaten rhubarb. Up until then I'd mocked, scoffed at, and otherwise disparaged the weird vegetable. But I was inspired by all the recipes I saw online, and had to try it when I saw this recipe from 5 Second Rule. As I was mixing up the topping, and realized it was like a cookie dough, I knew it was going to be good. And I was right.
3. Fruit and Grilled Pork Salad

This Fruit and Grilled Pork Salad was awesome for two reasons: it tasted divine--like a salad from a restaurant--and it used left-overs (from my first Foodie Fight entry, Grilled Pork and Cantaloupe with Spicy Balsamic Glaze). I love making a completely different meal from left-overs, and this was a perfect, delicious summer salad.

4. Italian Pomegranate-Lime and Cheese Sweet Bread

These Italian Pomegranate-Lime and Cheese Sweet Breads are the kind of crazy, insane thing you would only make for a contest: this was my entry to Foodie Fight #12, battle Pomegranate and Semolina Flour. They were very fun to make, but they're not something you just whip up, especially since I needed to make the pomegranate-lime jelly the day before. And the taste...heaven...They also nabbed me the winning vote, which was very fun :)

5. Polenta with Mushrooms and Egg

Would you believe I've had dreams about this dish since posting it? Weird? Yes. True? Also yes. This recipe for Polenta with Mushrooms and Egg is so easy, and so fabulous! After making it you might dream about it, too... ;)
Now, let's dig our forks into 2010!

Laura, The pizza sauce rocks, and I've spread the recipe around to many, many people, who also think it rocks ;) Happy New Year to you, too :)

  5. These all look awesome, but I'm totally hung up on that cobbler. I really like rhubarb! And if you put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it, I'm in heaven.

  6. Barbara and Hungry Dog, the cobbler was *so*, *so* good...especially with the ice cream. I can't wait until rhubarb is in season so I can make it again. The cobbler and lots of other rhubarb-y things :)
