About Me, This Blog, and My Not-To-Be Cookbook

My name is Tiffiny Felix.

My cute family and I live in the central part of Utah and have more animals than is really reasonable: 4 cats (3 barn cats and 1 house cat), 2 dogs, 5 chickens, 4 horses, 2 ponies, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 gold fish. After sending my oldest daughter to college this fall, I decided that I'd had enough with public school and homework and outrageous projects and testing and making lunches and crappy teachers and mean students, and started homeschooling my two younger girls (ages 11 & 7). We love it and are having such a great time!

I've been making messes in the kitchen since I was a tween (many apologies to my mother). I love to cook and few things bring me the same kind of joy as feeding people. In addition to cooking I love to craft and sew and garden and play with horses. I am also the owner of a pony-ride birthday party business called The Enchanted Pony Party Company, which really falls under "playing with horses".

I started this blog in May 2009 as a way to market my cookbook, The Bake-Off Flunkie, which was going to contain recipes I'd entered in several past Pillsbury Bake-Off contests plus some of my other original recipes. I never really made much progress on the book, and over the years came to the slow conclusion that it's very hard to be successful in the cookbook market, only one reason being the availability of free recipes on blogs. I finally admitted that the cookbook just wasn't going to happen, which surprisingly was totally OK with me.

So, today, October 4, 2014, I've redefined the purpose of this blog. In some ways it's going to be different, and in many ways it's going to be the same. But in all ways I think it's going to be better and less stressful for me.

I've removed from the blog all extra stuff, ads, affiliate links, things trying to make money and drive traffic, and most all references to my book. From now on I will simply post recipes because they are tasty and I think other people will also like them. No stress and no pressure and no worrying about how many Pins or shares or number of Followers or number of Facebook Likes I have.

Thanks for coming by, thanks for the comments you will hopefully leave, enjoy what you find here, and please come back again!
